Black Spruce (Picea mariana)  Hardiness Zone 2 to 7,  MNR 34 , Narrow  taper , Full Sun to Partial Shade ,long living , tall and narrow. Heights of 40 to 100 ft is possible. Grows on shallow soils ,although older trees may eventually lean over or fall over. Moose can forage on foliage , Squirrels and Chipmunks enjoy seed cones . Used in Pulp and Paper , some lumber production. Can be used in the Landscape, Swamp or Wetlands.  Province of Newfoundland and Labrador / official tree.
